Behind-The-Scenes At GENERAL
HOSPITAL
Bombs Away!
by Jim Warren
The new year ushered in a new Port
Charles hot spot on GENERAL HOSPITAL, as Luke (Anthony Geary) and Sonny (Maurice
Benard) teamed up to open Luke's, described by its namesake's onscreen son Jonathan
Jackson (Lucky) as "a really cool place."
Luke's will be the "in" place
not only with Port Charles' finest residents, "but probably with some of the not
so great characters too," laughs Geary. Also, in keeping with the show's recent
tradition of guest appearances by celebrity singers, Geary offers that "B.B. King
is going to appear at Luke's in 1995.
But on the day that we recently
visited the set, things were really smokin' as a bomb exploded with the Spencers
and Sonny trapped inside. Come on, did you really expect a club that bears Luke
Spencer's name to make anything less than a big bang?
Jonathan Jackson (Lucky), Genie
Francis (Laura) and Anthony Geary (Luke) receive some last-minute instruction
before taping the fire scene inside Luke's new club.
Tony Geary (Luke) battles the blaze.
Maurice Benard (Sonny) rehearses
his scene, which calls for some gunplay after shots narrowly miss the Spencers
as they try to escape the blaze.
During some down-time on the set,
Anthony Geary (Luke) strums on the guitar, while Jonathan Jackson (Lucky) and
Maurice Benard (Sonny) share some laughs.
A representative from the Los Angeles
Fire Department was on the set as the crew played with fire.
