Luke Spencer (Tony Geary) was GH's most complex character ever, and Laura Webber was infatuated with him. In a most bizarre series of events--even for a soap--he raped her, married her and became the mayor of Port Charles. During their wedding ceremony, her estranged husband, Scotty made a surprise appearance and got into a fight with Luke. Luke won.

Luke and Laura first met Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) while they were searching for the "Ice Princess," the important key to the nefarious Cassidine's [sic] plan to freeze parts of the earth in a fantastic worldwide blackmail scheme. They all stowed away on Mikkos Cassadine's yacht and wound up on this tropical paradise during their adventure.

Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) a friend of Lois' from back in Brooklyn, was a business associate of Frank Smith and inherited Smith's somewhat less than legal empire upon his death. Sonny and Luke (Tony Geary) became friends while working together and subsequently opened a night club which was promptly burned down by their enemies.
