LIKE MOTHER, LIKE DAUGHTER

Lesley Webber was a dedicated doctor, a loyal friend and a good mother. At least she'd always believed she'd been a good mother to her 18-year-old daughter, Laura. Lesley would do anything for Laura. Once she'd even pleaded guilty to a murder she didn't commit to keep Laura from going to prison.

Lesley thought she understood her daughter. But the day Laura left her young husband, Scotty, and ran off with Luke Spencer, Lesley decided she didn't know her daughter at all. Lesley never suspected Laura was having an affair with any man--least of all Luke.

What Lesley didn't know was that Laura was following all the principles Lesley had taught her--a code of honor, duty and love. Laura had never been unfaithful to Scotty, although she'd admitted to herself she loved Luke.

Once Lesley began to understand the truth behind Laura's disappearance she immediately sprang into action. She used every method of deception to find out where Laura was hiding out. She flirted with mobster Mr. Smith and as soon as she did she was courting disaster. Lesley knew the danger she was in but it didn't matter if it helped assure Laura's safety.

After three months on the run, Laura felt that danger was closing in, so she finally broke down and called her mother. "I just want you to know that I'm well...and that I love you," Laura told her mother. Listening to Laura's words, Lesley finally realized how much of herself was in her daughter. For, just like her mother, she would stick by her man, no matter what the price.
