Secret Passages
Faison Also Rises
by Kristen Gallagher
For as long as Luke Spencer has been
around Port Charles dispensing his own brand of justice, you'd think he'd have
come in contact with just about every bad guy to cross the harbor. Wrong.
This week, he unwittingly comes face-to-face with a former GH villain whose dastardly
deeds he knows all too well, but whose face he's never laid eyes on--Cesar Faison.
"Luke's just trying to get some
money, so he chips off a piece of the Ice Princess and fences it to a man named
Krieg in Switzerland," relates Head Writer Robert Guza, Jr. Little does Luke know,
however, that Mr. Krieg is really Faison, the blackguard who allegedly perished
in an off-screen boat explosion with Robert and Anna Scorpio in 1992. "That's
the ultimate irony," Guza muses. "Luke is doing business with the man who was
responsible for the deaths of his best friend and his best friend's wife."
Which is not to say that Luke's
bad-guy radar is slipping. "Luke would have no way of knowing that this is Cesar
Faison," stresses Guza, referring to the fact that Luke left town in 1985 and
didn't return until after Faison allegedly perished. "We don't want to suggest
in any way that Luke is naive--he's not. He would just have no way of knowing.
If you said this man's name to Luke, he would know every detail. But no reference
will be made to the fact that this is Faison. The only people who will really
know who Faison is are the long-time viewers who recognize him."
And two other Port Charles denizens.
"The only people alive on the canvas now who could recognize him are Mac and Felicia,"
Guza notes. Which means Faison's identity will remain a secret--for now. "We're
doing it gradually. He's going to be lingering from afar for a while, but his
influence will be very strongly felt. This is going to be a gradual unfolding
of an arch villain who is arguably one of the most [dastardly] characters to ever
grace this canvas."
Which means he'll be up to his old
tricks in no time, right? "This isn't the first time Luke has been dealing with
this particular fence," allows Guza, "which suggests that Faison has been planning
his move for quite a while. When that comes, there will be a shocking reveal as
we see the extent of what he intends to do. Faison is going to do things to this
canvas that have not been done. It's going to affect everybody. It's going
to start very slowly, so everyone will just have to wait for the fireworks. But
they will come, grins Guza. "I guarantee it."

Fencing could soon become a deadly
sport for Luke (Anthony Geary).
