Where They Are Now!
Ex-General Hospital Stars Make It Big Away from Port Charles!

Is there life after General Hospital? Can a soap star find happiness and stardom once they've left ABC's number one show? If you ask Jane Elliot (ex-Tracy), Kin Shriner (ex-Scotty) and Richard Dean Anderson (ex-Jeff) you'll get a resounding yes.

Jane Elliot was the first to leave GH. Viewers were stunned when Jane firmly announced her decision to pursue a nighttime career. Proving her point, she appeared in four episodes of Knots Landing as the tormented wife of an alcoholic. Now, she's on Guiding Light for 4 months.

Probably the hardest thing for a daytime star to do is leave a top-rated soap. But that's what Kin Shriner did. As Scotty, he captured girls' hearts. Then, last November, he signed with Texas as Jeb Hampton. Kin's moved to NY but is happy with his new life. He's made new friends, but still keeps in touch with his GH family.

Richard Dean Anderson guested on Facts of Life. The ratings were so good, he's up for a spinoff. So, these ex-GHers gambled and were lucky. Tony Geary (Luke) isn't taking any chances. "I never had it so good," he admits. "I'm staying right here!"

COOL HAND LUKE: Meeting TONY GEARY (Luke, "GH") for the first time was quite an experience. We met at the Soap Opera Digest posh cocktail party held in our publisher FREDERICK KLEIN's suite at the Century Plaza Hotel, and his face was so familiar, I forgot for a second that he didn't know me from Adam (er, Eve). But he smiled and I smiled and we had a nice little chat. Tony's pretty hard to get to as an actor because every writer, photog and agent in town is hot on his heels. But as a person he's laid-back, friendly, and oooh, that curly hair! ROBIN MATTSON (Heather, "GH") and her handsome husband-manager, Ray Manzella, feel that Tony's extraordinary talent on "General Hospital" is one of the reasons for the show's incredible popularity, and they aren't the only ones.
