This piece appeared in Soap Opera
Digest in 1983, I believe. I don't have the full text; the following is an
excerpt.
T.G.: (Nodding) In fact, Gloria's
going to produce my second TV movie.
D.C.: What's it about?
T.G.: Nothing's been finalized yet, but we have a project that we love. It's about
a broken-down rodeo rider who's got one good ride left in him. Whatever we wind
up doing we're determined that it will be extraordinary. At least not a two hour
"Love Boat." Many of the scripts that are sent to me are nothing more than Luke
Spencer rehashed and I won't do it. I refuse.
D.C.: Are there any other roles you'd like to play?
T.G.: Rasputin. An amazing character in history, known as both a devil and an
angel. He transformed Czarist Russia into chaos so that the Marxists could take
over, which was his intention. I was hoping that ABC would be interested but they
weren't.
D.C.: Maybe if Barbara Eden played the Cazarina [sic]?
T.G.: (Much laughter) Maybe.
D.C.: Are you burned out on GH?
T.G.: No, I'm not burned out. It's more that I feel a need to get back out in
the marketplace.
D.C.: Have you had other offers?
T.G.: Over the past few years there've been a couple of things come my way that
I couldn't do because I couldn't get the time off.
D.C.: What about now?
T.G.: There's a film I would like very much to do. It's being made in India. Apart
from that, there's a wonderful comedy that's been brought to my attention. But
it's not really a matter of better offers either. It's whether or not I've done
Luke Spencer. My whole life is acting. I've set it up that way and I'm quite content.
But I've got a lot more to say. There are a lot more personalities to explore.
If I come to the conclusion that I've said all there is to say about Luke Spencer,
then it's time to go.

Despite rumors of
a feud, Tony insists that he and Tristan Rogers (Robert Scorpio) do get along,
both on and off the GH set.
